When Sarah Shapiro and Melissa Koerner met last year, they had a lot in common: Both were veterans of major Bay Area companies (Shapiro was a buyer at Williams-Sonoma; Koerner was in marketing at Gap Inc.), both had young daughters, and both were wearing a Fitbit.
With shared passions of style, fitness and technology, Shapiro and Koerner set out to create an alternative to the casual rubber bracelets that housed their fitness trackers. The result is Bezels & Bytes, which offers on-trend jewelry that discreetly holds Fitbit devices. After a successful Indiegogo campaign in January, Shapiro and Koerner are shipping their first collection of bracelets and necklaces this month.
The debut collection includes a leather wrap-around bracelet ($78), a gold or silver I.D. bracelet ($98), and a pendant necklace ($98). Each design allows the Fitbit’s indicator lights to shine through. Available at www.bezelsandbytes.com or at Bezels & Bytes trunk shows at Bloomingdale’s San Francisco Centre (2-8 p.m. May 6-7) and Bloomingdale’s Stanford (11 a.m.-6 p.m. May 8).
